GUITAR SOLOS ARE BECOMING POINTLESS

As we all know. Many Artists and Bands influenced by the genre of Metal have started to believe that solos in there songs are suppose to be fast and they believe that its all about speed. But many of them disagree and state "There Should Be Some Feel Solos Aswell". By that as far as my analysis is concerned, I have seen bands play a couple of notes, then shred, then repeat this sequence over and over again to ruin a song and its atmosphere. I have even heard guitar solos that are 1.5min long! And this same technique, with a little bit of variation, not much, little, is used and a solo is complete? Is that it? What metalheads and many "Rockstars" have forgotten is that metal in not only about speed and technique and skill, but its also about melody and feel.

Playing a solo that is 5mins long is easy. But to maintain the melody and feel for those 5mins is a big deal. And its not that simple. We have heard solos by David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai. And they have something unique. Which many guitarists claiming that "We can play Every Freaking song" fail to deliver. The thing that is missing is determination and emotion. We dont want shreds only. We want melody and feel.

Feel for me is that when a person creates a certain emotion that attracts the listeners. We can find that in many leads namely:

"Stairway to Heaven" By Led Zeppelin

"Comfortably Numb" By Pink Floyd

"Heaven And Hell" By Black Sabbath

"Pain Killer" By Judas Priest

And still many which i cant remember! But the point is, Not all, Mind you, but many of the bands have lost this melody. Call It intentional or whatever. But yes, It is True!

My Advice Would Be:

"Play If You Can Play With Feel And Show Skill! Otherwise, Dont Play At All!!!!!"
